What's In Season- November
As we enter the season of giving thanks, I look forward to family recipes and heartwarming dishes that are comforting. November is all about make-ahead recipes, cozy fall soups and flavorful stews.
November is the peak time for root vegetables, like sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips, pumpkin, Brussels sprouts, and all those amazing squashes. We are still enjoying apples in our recipes and adding pears and cranberries for extra seasonal flavor.
Cooking in November means my kitchen is filled with warm, delicious aromas from my crock pot or a simmering stew. It is National Diabetes Month, and we will be taking a deeper dive into how the Mediterranean diet can help play a powerful role in managing and preventing diabetes.

This Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili is a cozy, flavorful dish perfect for chilly days or when you’re craving something hearty and healthy. Packed with nutrient-dense ingredients like sweet potatoes, black beans, and fire-roasted tomatoes, it’s a delicious way to enjoy plant-based protein and fiber, alongside a boost of Vitamin A & C. The spices add warmth and depth, while toppings like fresh cilantro, creamy avocado, and a squeeze of lime bring brightness to every bite.
Whole Roasted Cauliflower with Feta & Honey
If you haven’t tried whole roasting a cauliflower yet, you are missing out! This whole roasted cauliflower with feta and honey looks so impressive yet is so easy to make.
Cruciferous vegetables contain glucosinolates, a compound that has anticancer properties. We recommend aiming to include at least one cruciferous vegetable in your diet per day. Some of our favorites include cauliflower, broccoli, kale, cabbage, brussels sprouts and bok choy.
Happy Cooking!
