What's In Season- February
February marks the beginning of American Heart Month. Be sweet to your heart and your loved ones by checking out some of the seasonal recipes below!
Every year, I get excited for February—not just because of Valentine’s Day but because it’s a time to slow down, savor good food, and reflect on the habits we’ve been building. By now, the energy of the new year has settled, and it’s a great time to check in with yourself.
How are those intentions you set in January going? Are you being more mindful about what you're eating and how you're nourishing your body? If not, don’t worry—it’s never too late to start fresh.
This month is also American Heart Month, a reminder that health starts in the kitchen. Research shows the Mediterranean diet is one of the best ways to support heart health, lowering the risk of heart disease and strokes. Now is the perfect time to focus on heart-healthy habits, whether it’s cooking more at home, adding more plant-based foods to your plate, or simply sharing meals with loved ones.
And let’s not forget one of the biggest food events of the month—the Super Bowl! Whether you’re watching for the game, the commercials, or just the snacks, it’s a great excuse to gather and enjoy delicious, nourishing food.
February also brings a mix of vibrant citrus, hearty greens, and warm, comforting flavors to brighten up winter meals. No matter what you’re celebrating this month, let’s make it about fueling our bodies with wholesome, flavorful food.

Chicken Milanese
Spread love by making this delicious Chicken Milanese for your valentine! This easy breaded chicken is made with fresh parsley, bread crumbs, and parmesan for a crispy texture. I love to serve it with a simple arugula salad on the side for some extra greens. To make a meal extra special, pair this dish with our Champagne and Asparagus Farrotto with Crispy Prosciutto. This simple but tasty dish is one of my valentines favorites. On the Mediterranean diet we are all about slowing down at meal times to truly enjoy the food and our company!
Lemony Chicken Kebabs over Cauliflower Tabbouleh
This recipe combines two of my seasonal favorites: cauliflower and lemons, in a game-day-friendly way! These flavorful chicken kebabs are easy to eat while standing and cheering on your team—no fork and knife required.
Lemons are a great source of vitamin C, perfect for keeping your immune system strong during cold season. Cauliflower, on the other hand, helps lower inflammation —great for keeping your heart in top shape, especially during American Heart Month.
Mediterranean Pizza with Artichoke Hearts, Roasted Red Pepper and Feta
Just when you thought that following a heart-healthy diet meant limiting your pizza consumption, worry no further! This Mediterranean-inspired pizza is a flavorful, nutritious option that fits right into your heart-healthy lifestyle. It’s one of my go-to staples to make with loved ones around Valentine’s Day, but it’s also a winning choice for Super Bowl festivities.
Packed with fiber-rich veggies that help lower cholesterol and balance blood sugar levels, plus a hearty whole wheat crust that adds extra fiber and protein, this pizza is as satisfying as it is nourishing.
Maple and Miso Sheet-Pan Salmon With Green Beans
This sheet pan salmon from NYTimes cooking is one of our favorites! So easy and good for you. The brain-friendly salmon works perfectly with the sweet and salty maple and miso mix. French green beans add crunch and fiber making this a Mediterranean must. This winning combination will help keep you full and satisfied, and it is ready to put on the table in 20 minutes. I serve this dish with a tossed green salad and have dinner ready to go in less than half an hour!
Curry Chicken Salad
This recipe is full of vegetables and lean protein and is a delicious spin on classic chicken salad. It’s also incredibly easy to make ahead, making it perfect for meal-prepped lunches or a quick, stress-free addition to your Super Bowl spread.
The apple in this recipe provides the perfect crunchy, sweet flavor while also delivering fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants that support brain, heart, and digestive health. Plus, the antioxidant-rich curry powder adds a bold, savory depth of flavor that makes this dish a standout.
Double Chocolate Strawberry Coconut Brownies
These rich, fudgy brownies from A Healthy Life for Me are a favorite in our kitchen, perfect for celebrating Valentine’s Day, birthdays, or any special occasion.
On the Mediterranean diet, dessert is enjoyed in moderation, with a focus on real, wholesome ingredients. That’s why we love homemade treats like these—full of flavor and made with care, rather than store-bought cookies or processed sweets. And since fruit is often a go-to dessert in the Mediterranean lifestyle, the addition of juicy strawberries makes these brownies even more special.
Happy Cooking!
