It’s no secret that life gets busy — and for many of us, that post-work glass of wine or weekend cocktail with friends feels like a little moment of calm. A way to relax, connect, or just enjoy something delicious.

Honestly, I have the opportunity to drink more now than I used to. With the kids out of the house and no more “school nights,” evenings feel more open. Add in travel, dinners with friends, work events… and suddenly that glass of wine isn’t just a Friday night thing.

I’ve been having conversations with friends in this same season — becoming empty nesters, adjusting routines, and realizing that some habits (especially those shaped during COVID) have quietly stuck around.

And with the Surgeon General’s warning about alcohol and cancer risk, many of us are wondering:

Is alcohol still “okay” — even in moderation?

And what does that mean for those of us following a Mediterranean lifestyle?
