It’s no secret that life gets busy — and for many of us, that post-work glass of wine or weekend cocktail with friends feels like a little moment of calm, a way to relax, connect, or just enjoy something delicious.

I’ll be honest — I have the opportunity to drink more now than I used to. With the kids out of the house and no more “school nights,” there’s more freedom in the evenings. Add in travel, dinner with friends, work events, a pre-dinner cocktail here and there… and suddenly that glass of wine isn’t just a Friday night thing.

Sound familiar?

I’ve had so many conversations lately with friends who are in a similar season — becoming empty nesters, adjusting to new rhythms, and reflecting on how habits (some formed during COVID) have quietly stuck around.

And with the Surgeon General’s recent warning about alcohol and cancer risk, many of us are wondering:

Is alcohol still “okay” — even in moderation?
And what does that mean for those of us following a Mediterranean lifestyle?

Let’s break it down.
