Cooking the Mediterranean Way: A Travel-inspired Recipe from Maine
This month’s recipe is travel-inspired from my recent visit to Maine.
As we settle into summer and the height of vacation season, I have been reflecting on our recent collaborative post with Mediterranean Longevity about Mediterranean travel habits.
One theme kept coming to mind: when we were raising our family, vacations rarely felt like a real vacation except for one special place: Maine.
It was the one spot that truly inspired a slower rhythm – slow days, shopping and eating local foods (hello lobster and ice cream), lingering over meals, and great conversations.
I had almost forgotten this feeling until I drove into town during our vacation last week and headed for the dock. My shoulders dropped the moment I saw the water. It was quiet and stunningly peaceful.
Whenever I travel, one of my favorite things to do is recreate the food experience back home. Whether it’s how I set the table, a new ingredient, or a new recipe.
So this month, after our quick trip to Maine, I am featuring a beautiful, colorful Lobster Niçoise from my mother-in-law.
